SONGFLIGHT

The Dragon Singer Chronicles, Book 1
Young Adult Epic Fantasy
Three-time finalist for the Realm Awards

Alísa never asked to feel the dragons' pain.

Every slayer has psychic powers, but none feel what she does—the agony of dragons as her clan hunts them, their emotions bleeding into her mind uncontrollably. As the chief's daughter, she should be strong, confident, and unmoving in their clan’s mission. Instead, her persistent stammer marks her as weak, and if the clan discovers her uncontrollable empathic connection to the dragons, they'd call her something far worse: traitor.

Her father knows why. But he won't tell her.

When a chance meeting with a young dragon reveals they aren’t the soulless monsters her clan believes them to be, she turns to her father for answers. His response? Spirit her away so the dragons will never find her, keep her in the dark, protect her from a truth she's desperate to understand. But Alísa is done being protected. If the slayers won't give her answers, she'll find them among the dragons—even if it means becoming the very thing her father fears most.

The truth could bridge two worlds. Or destroy them both.

Among the so-called enemy, Alísa discovers a war built on lies, a connection that runs deeper than blood, and a destiny she never imagined. With time running out and both sides demanding her loyalty, Alísa must find the courage to speak—even when her voice breaks, even when no one wants to listen. Because the dragon song inside her isn't a curse. It's the key to everything.

Reviews for Songflight

Songflight by Michelle M. Bruhn tells the gripping story of Alísa, a Dragon Singer who is misunderstood by both races but whose powers may be the key to uniting them.” - Lorehaven (full review here)

Songflight was everything I long for in fantasy: fantastical creatures so well written they seem real, a creative, complex magic system, enchanting world building details, and characters who learn, fight, and  grow.” - Rachel A. Greco (full review here)

“The storyline is captivating and filled with beautiful folklore and songs. Reminiscent of Tolkien’s legends, learning about this world is one of the aspects of this series I’m looking forward to delving into as it continues.” - Bookish Musings (full review here)

“I had started this in ebook form, but later switched to the audiobook version, and it’s delightful! It’s read by the author, and she SINGS the song parts! I always listen to audiobooks around 2x speed, but I slowed it down every time singing came up. Loved it!” - The Page Dreamer (full review here)
